US NAVY ETHOS – Enlistment OATH “We should apply to everyday life.”
As a US Navy Veteran, I am looking at current events that are upon us in The United States of America; not looking at the current events with panic and fear BUT with tactical and confident eyes.
I go through the day look at my surroundings tactically. As a war veteran this is simple. Look around, in front and behind you. The purpose to look tactically is to see threats, escape route, the idea is to protect oneself and those you swore to protect till mission is complete. In this process I can see where I need to go, how to get there and accomplish mission.
Times now it might seem hard to be confident. Not true. Confidence is a mindset. There are situations I cannot control so I need to forget them and work on what I can. Having confidence is not believing everything is sunshine and rainbows. Confidence is understanding there will be failure, pain, hardship which lead to success, comfort, strength.
A few words that I should read more, and use in everyday actions is the Enlistment Oath and US Navy ETHOS. Which I still try and live by today.
As in the military these could be applied to your business, your life, and your family.
THE ENLISTMENT OATH
“I William Edward Blanken Jr, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”
